Lewis was born 29 Sep.in Laurens , Laurens District SC. He was 28 when he joined Capt Milton Sullivan's Co of Partisan Rangers. This became Co A 6th SC cavalry. Enlisting in the Greenville District. They were mustered into Confederate Service at Columbia, SC on 10 July 1862. Fought at Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna, Cold Harbor, Petersburg Siege, Vaughn Road, Carolina Campaign, Darlington, SC. Solomon's Grove & Moore's Crossroads March 10, 1865. He is distantly related to me thru marriage.

James was born 28 Aug 1845 in Mount Croghan, Chesterfield Co. SC. He was about 18 when he enlisted in 16th Battalion Partisan Rangers aka 1st Partisan Rangers [Aiken's] This became Co D of the 6th SC Cav. He has 5 cards in his archival file. Enlisted at Chesterfield, South Carolina 1 Sept 1863 by Captain Evans for the war. He was wounded 23 Aug. 1864 at the battle of Reams Station. He was given a 60 day furlough from the hospital at Petersburg. His unit was engaged in the following battles: Spotsylvania C.H., North Anna, Cold Harbor, Vaughn Road, Carolina Campaign and Monroe's Crossroads on 10 Mar 1865. His Regiment had been transferred to the Army of Tennessee and surrendered at the Bennett Place, NC. He died 17 Sep 1928. May God rest his soul.

Brother of 1st Lt. A.W. Dozier, also of the 6th South Carolina Cavalry, Wade Hampton's Brigade, J.E.B. Stuart's Division, CSA Wounded in action at Lee's Mills Aug. 8, 1864.

Plantation manager in Williamsburg Co. Removed to CA in 1869 where he was a ranch manager and rancher.

Peter was born in 1837 in Hebron, Marlboro District, SC. He is 23 in 1860. He has limited historical data and most comes from his obit and gravestone. I found his relatives but not him in the archival files. He died 9 July 1862 of Typhoid in Richmond County, Georgia and is buried in Magnolia Cem. West Augusta, Richmond Co. Ga. His gravestone reads [ Co. G John R Miot's Partisan Rangers. This company was a part of the 6th Regiment SC Cavalry. aka 16th Battalion aka 1st Akin's Regt.

James Joined 1 Nov. 1862 at Chesterfield, Chesterfield Co. SC The 1st Regt. SC Partisans. They mustered in the same day at Adams Run. He was sick in hospital or in camp for some six months. Recovered and rejoined his unit. July 1864 his horse died and he is in the dismounted Battn:
He was from Jefferson, Chesterfield Co. SC. He died 23 Feb. 1905 and is buried with honors at Rockey Creek Presbyterian Church at Jefferson, Chesterfield Co. SC. Any man that will not defend his home against attack is no man at all.
